Hectic Days at "the farm"

If you've ever spent any time in the Pacific North West you know that when the sun come outs...you hurry the hell up and get all of your yard work done. Because you know that if you don't...it's going to rain the very next day! And that, my dear readers, is what I've been doing the past few days. And because of that not only has my blogging taken a back seat...but my housework has as well!

Who wants chili?!? I do! I do!

Okay...chili has to be one of my favorite comfort foods!! I can eat any kind of chili, any day of the week and for any meal! You can serve it to me in a bowl with crackers, over a hot dog or even over nachos! Honestly, I'll take chili any way you serve it! :) That's the beauty of chili...you can make it your own and serve it however you want it...and chances are that it'll be good!

Would you put your life on the line?

Every day a small percentage of Americans get up in the morning, put on their uniforms and do something that most of us wouldn't ever dream of doing...put their life on the line for the rest of America. Law enforcement officials, emergency medical personnel, military, and medical professionals all work every day to protect and keep the rest of us safe. And it takes a tragedy for them to be recognized.

Just one of those days...

Ever had one of those days that no matter how hard you try to get ahead, you feel like you are running about 20 clicks behind the rest of the world? Today is that kind of day for me. I feel like the hours are just flying by, and that I haven't completed many of the tasks that I needed to today. Maybe it's the weather...yea...that sounds good. It's the weather!

To Boston, with love...

In August of 2002, a wide eyed "closeted" 22 year old drove to Boston with his mother. He had decided to pack up everything he owned and move as far east as he could without getting wet. Boston was to become his home for 4 amazing years.

Who loves meatballs??? I do!

I don't care how you make them, what they are made of, or what they are drenched in...I LOVE meatballs! I've tried several recipes, including ones from Anne Burrell and Nigella Lawson. But I'm going to share a little secret with you...I have a better recipe!

Puttin' on a front. We all do it.

I had a mother from The Healing Center tell me the other day, "Brian, if you are anything like the person you are here outside of The Healing Center...I bet you are always fun to be around." I smiled at her, laughed, and thought to myself..."Maybe you should talk to Michael about that one." ;-)

Scared to cook fish?? Try this Salmon!!!

If you know me, you know that seafood is not something that excites me. As a matter of fact, since I'm being honest, it disgusts me. The smell can be overwhelming and for me...gag inducing. Too much honesty? I think I'm suppose to say, "Ooooo baby! Seafood is my absolute favorite!!!" ;-)

Why do I do it?

It seems as of late that many people are asking me the question, "Why do you do it?" And that question is about many different things. Sometimes it can be said with an undercurrent of judgement, curiosity, or confusion. But no matter what the undercurrent I'm still trying to figure out what the appropriate way to answer this question is.

Life on a farm...in the middle of the suburbs.

Ever since I was a kid I dreamt of living on a farm or ranch. I've always wanted some land where I could have a big garden, horses, goats, chickens and maybe a couple of cows. Here I am, almost 33 years old, living in the suburbs with a yard that I've transformed into a mini farm and ranch. I guess I should have made my dreams a little more specific!
