Back home on Oahu! - Day 1

For the past three years Oahu has been calling to me. Begging me to come back for another visit. And finally I was able to answer! I can't even begin to tell you how antsy I got as our plane flew along the north shore of Moloka'i and we headed south! And then...there it was...Makapu'u!

My heart seriously skipped a beat and I couldn't wait to land! :) Like I wrote earlier today, it was that feeling of going home. I was a little disappointed though because normally when I came back to visit a friend would pick me up and they would get me a lei and then take me to Zippy's for chicken katsu. (Those were my two requirements LOLOL) But I figured I'd have to buy myself one at the store. But MUCH to my delight when we got off the plane, we were given leis! It's "Lei Day" here in Hawaii! So I wasn't even here 5 minutes and I got lei'd! :) I'd say that's pretty darn good!

After waiting for our luggage we made our way to the car rental place, picked up our car and headed for Waikiki. I showed Michael the grocery store I used to shop at, the way I used to walk to work, the 7-Eleven I bought a bunch of food at one night after the clubs and ate it with out remembering! But it felt good to round the corner to the Hilton Hawaiian Village property and seeing the Grand Waikikian Tower looming above us!

After checking in, we visited with a couple of my former coworkers and then made our way to Zippy's. :) I got my chicken katsu, and it was just as good as I'd wanted it to be! :) After stuffing ourselves with food I drove Michael by my old apartments and then we headed down to the PanAm building to visit Ms. Swan. (aka my old boss) We visited for a while then stopped at the store to get some essentials then made our way back to the timeshare. I have to say that I feel so blessed to know the people I do, and that we were able to get into this unit! We have a gorgeous 2 bedroom unit with a full kitchen! And all Michael could say was...wow...look at these digs! :) I think he approves. What do you think?

Not too shabby, eh? Well I am not going to complain about this at all! I feel so lucky to be here!! :) After we sat down for a bit and relaxed we decided to walk along the beach and then down through Waikiki to the zoo and back to the hotel. So I snapped a few pictures along the way.

Diamond Head is no longer just a day dream for me! :)

This duck and her ducklings were just chilling outside the Hilton!

The water feels so good on my feet. I've missed this so much!

The trees here are amazing!

Perfect ending to the first day of our trip. **sigh** Paradise
Well it's time to enjoy some wine and the pizza we ordered! I know...gourmet meal! :) But tomorrow morning I'll be making spam and eggs for breakfast! :) I love being here! :) I hope you enjoyed the pictures and keep checking back because I'll be posting daily! Hope I don't make you all too mad at me! :)

Until next time...Keep Cooking! And while you are cooking, I'll be on the beach! :)

  1. Hope you decide to come home to Seattle - we're having sunshine and warm weather. I'll bring you to the May Day walk in my heart - oh, and Lisette will too. Hugs, Mary
