2014 - A Year in Review

Well folks...2014 flew by so fast that I'm not quite sure what really happened and if most of it was a dream or not. And here we are half way through the first month of a new year! It truly is amazing how much has happened in the past year...and how many people are now on this journey with me.

Home in Honolulu...Day 11.

I can't believe that today is already the end of our vacation. Like I said yesterday, it seems like we just flew in...but in the same breath it's like we'd been on island for months.

Home in Honolulu...Day 10.

It's hard to believe that today was our final full day here in Honolulu. It seems like yesterday that we landed...but at the same time it seems like we've been here for months.

Home in Honolulu...Day 9.

After spending the last two days lounging around, we decided that we should take advantage of the day and get out and about. We originally planned to go to Makapu'u to look for whales...but after seeing the weather we changed our plans.

Home in Honolulu...Day 5.

If yesterday was a low key day...today was downright dead! Okay, that isn't actually true, but we didn't really do much in the way of activities...but that was just fine for the both of us.

Home in Honolulu...Day 4.

Today turned out to be a pretty low key day here on Oahu for us, but that isn't always a bad thing. I find when people go on vacation, they always feel that they have to be going here or there and filling every minute with activities. That's one thing that I love about vacationing with my husband, we don't "plan" things as much as we have things in mind that we want to do...and then let the day dictate what we do.

Home in Honolulu...Day 2.

There's nothing like waking up...looking out your window and seeing the ocean. There's also nothing like sitting on your lanai, sipping Kona coffee with your breakfast while the trade winds lovingly blow over you. Hawaii...home.

Home in Honolulu...Day 1

Well folks...the day has finally come! I'm finally home in Honolulu! It seems like it was only yesterday that we were here, but in the same breath it seems so long ago. I find it funny how certain places or memories can be like that...I think that is the sign of a good memory or place. Does that make sense? Or is the Jinro talking? :)

Day of Rememberance - Day 7

Today was really focused on the honoring of memories. We started our day out by going to the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor...and finished the day recalling the memories of our trip. And from one all the way to the other...we realize how important it is to honor the memories.

Even God took a day to rest! - Day 5

I wish I could say that it was my own choice to take this day to rest. But between my body and Mother Nature...I think it was just in the cards! All the nights of little sleep, traveling, hiking, sun and fun have finally caught up to me. So I finally gave in...I admitted defeat.

Whole lotta hiking goin' on! - Day 4

Today had many highs and many lows...there were times that we were on top of the world, and other times we were sloshing through the mud. Am I trying to be poetic? Nah...we just went for a 7 hour hike today, that's all!

Day of Eating and Hiking! - Day 3

I honestly don't know what we did more of today, hiking or eating. Right now it feels like all we did was eat...but I think it could be a toss-up! Our day started with a text from my father at 5:48 AM...he forgot that Montana is four hours ahead of Hawaii. Honest mistake. :)

Honolulu Bound!

I have Pineapple Princess running on a loop through my head right now! I'm sitting at gate A13 waiting for our flight to Honolulu to board. I can't even begin to express the emotions that I'm feeling right now. Most of it is that feeling of going home. Or seeing a friend that you haven't seen in years. I feel that right now.

Life on a farm...in the middle of the suburbs.

Ever since I was a kid I dreamt of living on a farm or ranch. I've always wanted some land where I could have a big garden, horses, goats, chickens and maybe a couple of cows. Here I am, almost 33 years old, living in the suburbs with a yard that I've transformed into a mini farm and ranch. I guess I should have made my dreams a little more specific!

In an Aloha State of mind...

I don't know if it's been the weather lately or if it's just because I'm missing home. But I've had Hawai'i on my mind a lot lately. As I sit here listening to the wind blow, and the rain hitting the windows...I think back to my mornings in my apartment in Makiki as I would lie there listening to the morning rains coming down through Manoa Valley to make the morning air crisp and clean.
